Jobs vs. Careers
How does one distinguish between a job and a career? Although the two terms overlap, and are often interchangeable, there are several distinct differences between a job and a career.
A job puts money in your pocket. A job puts food on your table, clothes on your back, and allows you to survive in the world. Some people, such as students and senior citizens, may work a job not out of necessity, but rather to supplement a primary source of income. Simply put, a job is a post of employment, a means of earning money. Nothing more, and nothing less.
A career, on the other hand, is a profession that plays a more personal and fulfilling role in one's life. Careers require training and education. Successful careers require passion and dedication. Careers are highly specialized, demand advanced skills, and pay accordingly. People aspire to rewarding and meaningful careers and are defined in part as individuals by their career goals, accomplishments, and life's work.
Chances are you are here because you too would like to pursue a rewarding career that encourages personal growth and professional development. It's never too late to turn your professional life around and achieve the success and personal fulfillment you so desire.
